Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre built his entire life in the city. Photojournalist for 37 years, he worked as a correspondent in Brazil for the French agencies Sipa Press and Gamma Presse Images. Publishing in magazines such as Time, Paris Match, Newsweek, and also in the Brazilian press in Rio and São Paulo. He won the XV April Press photojournalism award and became a Senior Photo Editor in the newspaper O Globo in 1997, where he remained until 2015. In 2016 he founded Pictorio, an Online Photo Gallery. Nowadays he works as independent photographer, devoting his time to the development of alternative processes such as Platinum/Palladium, Silver Gelatin, and printing his artworks in Piezography.
